This specialisation is aimed at students who want to focus on different styles of jazz. You will receive individual classes in your main instrument in addition to ensemble classes. During the programme you will also have many opportunities to play in front of an audience on different stages. The specialisation is regularly visited by well-known musicians and educators, and we always strive for a wide range of instruments and styles.
The classical specialisation is aimed at those who want to develop their passion and joy for their instrument or singing, particularly in Western art music. During the programme you will have the opportunity to play both chamber music and in other ensemble constellations.
The pop/rock specialisation is aimed at students who want to play a wide array of music, from traditional pop/rock/blues to more jazz-influenced styles. The bulk of the teaching consists of ensemble classes which will prepare you to become a good ensemble teacher yourself. The programme includes lessons in your main instrument, but you will also learn the basics on drums, electric bass, guitar, keyboard and singing. During your studies you will meet interesting guest lecturers with different specialised knowledge. You will also perform live in various concert settings as well as carrying out recording projects in a professional studio.
The Singer-songwriter specialisation focuses on creating, performing, and documenting your own music. The specialisation is not genre-bound but you will move freely across musical boundaries, and we specifically aim to stimulate innovation and musical creativity. You will receive individual lessons on your main instrument as well as piano or guitar and singing. The programme also includes courses in basic music production in addition to teaching drums, electric bass, and ensemble. As a student, you will participate in several projects and concerts together with students from other specialisations at the academy. Great emphasis is placed on creating good conditions for your personal and musical development.
This specialisation is aimed at students who wish to study a diverse range of genres and styles, with singing as their main instrument. During the programme you will partake in various concerts and projects together with students from the other specialisations, and you will be taught in vocal and secondary instrument ensembles as well as individual lessons on your main instrument (voice) and piano. You will also learn the basics on drums and electric bass as well as attend classes which will prepare you to become a good ensemble teacher.
This specialisation welcomes all forms of folk music from around the world. As a student, you will be emerged in the Nordic folk music as well as other musical traditions from different cultures. We are regularly visited by well-known musicians and educators from near and far, and we make sure to include a wide range of instruments and styles.
