Vocal and Drama Studies

Malmö Opera Academy

MASTER'S PROGRAMME IN MUSIC · 120 CREDITS · 2 YEARS

The Master of Fine Arts in Vocal and Drama Studies at Malmö Academy of Music is offered in close collaboration with Malmö Opera. The two-year programme is designed to meet the needs of singers with a high artistic level and ability, and aims to prepare you for a professional career as an opera singer.

The programme gives you the opportunity to develop musically and dramatically among musicians, singers and conductors in an opera house – a unique education in Sweden at the highest artistic level.

In parallel with vocal studies, interpretation, music drama, movement and more, you participate in Malmö Opera's activities. This gives you an unrivalled opportunity to continuously gain insight and learn more about a singer's various tasks and professional opportunities at a real working place.

After completing the programme, you will have received musical education at a high level as well as extensive practical experience of stage productions. You will also have gained in-depth insights about the work at a major opera house in addition to complete role studies and a rehearsal repertoire in your vocal range. In other words, you will be ready for a professional life as an opera singer on an international market.

Since Malmö Academy of Music is part of Lund University, there is also the strength of having a close connection to the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts, which includes Malmö Theater Academy and Malmö Academy of Fine Arts, as well as Inter Arts Center. This opens up for exciting joint projects and collaboration opportunities.
