Teacher of double bass
Olle Davidsson started playing bass in his family's own small orchestra at the age of 12. His first bass teacher was Carina Sporrong. After high school, he began his studies with Professor Torvald Fredin at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In parallel with his studies at the academy, Olle studied chamber music and string orchestra with Björn Sjögren at the Swedish Radio Music Institute.
His studies also included extensive tours in both Eastern and Western Europe with Leonard Bernstein and Sergiu Celebidache, among others, and freelance work in various Swedish orchestras. After attending courses in Italy and Switzerland, he continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London with Duncan McTier and Peter Buckoke.
As his studies in London drew to a close, Mr Davidsson joined the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, where after a few years he was given his first solo bass position. Since 1996, Olle Davidsson has been principal bass of the Själlands Symfoniorkester. He has also worked as principal bass with the Malmö Opera and the Malmö Symphony Orchestra.
