Vocal Studies | Classical specialisation

The Master's Programme in Music with a specialisation in classical singing is a two-year full-time university programme aimed at students who want to develop as a singer in Western art music or Vocal studies.

During your studies, you will learn to shape and hone your technical and artistic ability, both as a soloist and in ensembles together with other singers and instrumentalists. Great emphasis is placed on the development of your stage presence and overall ability to shape your performance. You also get the opportunity to perform in front of various audiences, an experience which gives you a solid foundation as well as an edge to your artistry. 

The programme includes:

• Instrumental studies
  You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in your main instrument under the guidance of experienced teachers. Through regular individual lessons, masterclasses and joint lessons, you develop both technical skills and your artistic expression.
   
• Musical Studies and Interpretation
  You regularly work together with your teacher/pianist to develop a deeper understanding of the music you perform, with a focus on both technical precision and artistic interpretation.
   
• Chamber music
  A central part of the education is chamber music, where you get the opportunity to play together with other students in smaller ensembles and develop your musical sensitivity and your communication skills.

• Music as a profession
  The course 'Music as a Profession' will give you a thorough insight into the professional aspects of the music industry while preparing you for a career as a musician.
   
• Degree project (performing and reflective part)
  The performing part (exam concert) constitutes 75% of your degree project. In the exam concert, your artistic and technical expressiveness is made visible. The reflective part makes up 25% of your thesis. The work is based on your own artistic practice and presented in a format of your choice: written, live or pre-recorded.
